UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM Joseph Berg was born in 1896 in Dirmerzheim, Germany. He was Jewish, and his ancestors had lived in Germany for three hundred years. Joseph worked as a cattle dealer and lived in the small farming community of Lechenich, with his wife Klara and two daughters, Inge (born 1929) and Gisela (born 1933).The Museum’s limestone and brick exterior engages the neoclassical Bureau of Engraving and Printing to the south and the Victorian red-brick Sydney R. Yates Building to the north.
